Discover LIL-ECHOES: exploring culture in virtual worlds

Join us in Munich on 25 November 2026 for the launch of LIL-ECHOES and discover how immersive technologies can bring people, cultures and generations closer together!
How can Extended Reality (XR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) transform the way we experience culture and connect with others?
On 25 November 2026, LIL-ECHOES will celebrate its launch at XR HUB Bavaria in Munich, bringing together researchers, project partners and the wider public to explore the future of intercultural encounters in virtual worlds.
The event will introduce the project’s vision and its Living Cultural Labs, innovative spaces in libraries, museums and community centres where people from different backgrounds and generations will co-create and experience immersive cultural activities.
Starting at 18:30 CET, the programme will feature a presentation of LIL-ECHOES by Professor Müge Satar (Newcastle University, Primary Coordinator Contact of the project), followed by two keynote speeches:
- Professor Gavin B. Sullivan, International Psychoanalytic University Berlin, on how immersive environments can foster wellbeing, democracy and intercultural understanding.
- Professor Zhu Hua, University College London, on how AI is transforming intercultural communication and what this means for living together.
A roundtable discussion with speakers and consortium members will follow, before participants are invited to enjoy networking opportunities and hands-on VR demonstrations.
The presentations will also be accessible online in a hybrid format.
